May 2017 Household Air Pollution Monitoring Training

May 2017
Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

In addition to ambient air pollution monitoring, the GEOHealth Hub will collect household air pollution data for some study participants. In May, University of Southern California (USC) Co-Investigator Scott Fruin conducted a household air pollution monitoring training to prepare field researchers for this arm of the research study. Training included the use and maintenance of air monitoring equipment as well as sampling plans to implement the research aims. This training was designed to provide the initial implementing countries (Ethiopia and Uganda) with hands-on experience using the indoor monitoring equipment to collect and analyze data. The training was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for members of the Addis Ababa University (AAU) and Makerere School of Public Health (Uganda) research teams.
