The Eastern Africa GEOHealth Hub hosted an in-person EAC meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, on March 7, 2024.
The EAC meeting was attended by the EAC co-chair Dr. Bruce Kirenga and EAC members Drs. Jennifer Peel, Shem Wandiga, and Caradee Wright; co-investigators from the US (Drs. Jon Samet and Pam Factor-Litvak) and investigators and staff from Addis Ababa University, University of Nairobi, and Makerere University.
The meeting started with overviews and updates on research and training activities from the GEOHealth team. GEOHealth project overviews were followed by presentations from training partners, including Health Effects Institute (Kenya), Research and Education Center for Development (Cameroon), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), and Kintampo Health Research Center (Ghana). EAC members (Drs. Jonathan Patz, Bruce Kirenga, Jennifer Peel, Shem Wandiga, and Caradee Wright) also gave presentations on their work.
The meeting ended with discussions on sustainability, expansion of the Hub scope, training partner engagements, and reflections from the EAC members.
