April 21-23, 2015
Makerere University School of Public Health, Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, Uganda
In April 2015, the Makerere University School of Public Health hosted the second regional workshop for the eastern African GEOHealth Hub at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.
Researchers and stakeholders from all four Eastern African countries as well as the University of Southern California and University of Wisconsin-Madison attended the workshop. The regional workshop served as a platform for discussions surrounding the regional SANA reports for the four partner countries, highlighting issues of concern for both the academic partners and governmental stakeholders from Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda. In addition, the workshop focused on establishing a vision for the future of the Eastern Africa GEOHealth Hub and developing a framework for upcoming research and training activities. Following the workshop in Kampala, team members from the University of Southern California traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to meet with university officials and stakeholders to further strengthen the partnerships in place as the activities towards the GEOHealth Hub grow.
